More about allegra

A force of nature and boundless positive energy, Allegra (her name is literally "joyous" in Italian) began her career as a performing artist at age 5 when she danced on the Al Alberts Television Showcase in Philadelphia. She quickly progressed to her first lead Regional Theater roles in A Chorus Line, West Side Story and A Shayna Maidel. She graduated from Montclair State University, where she won top awards in Theater and was the commencement speaker for her graduating class.

Moving to New York City to pursue a professional acting career, Allegra's easy-going, compelling vocal style and personal charm led to an abundance of voiceover and commercial work with Allegra helping to sell everything from laundry detergent to "healthy choices" at various fast food chains.

As a means of supporting her work as an actress, Allegra became a professional party motivator, and was recruited to become an event and party planner, developing a successful skill set that would later prove indispensable in production. Putting together Bar Mitzvahs and high-end events, while serving as the head of sales for entertainment companies, she learned the nuts and bolts of show business, from the realities of balancing the books to the thrill and satisfaction of staging a flawless event.

She co-produced "Split the Difference," which won Best Comedy at the New York Television Festival and was later bought by NBC. She followed up with "The Crawl," which evolved into Spike TV's "Weekend Pre-Game."

Allegra is involved with The Collective at Sundance, an elite group of global entrepreneurs, filmmakers, philanthropists, technology, business and entertainment leaders with a shared passion and vision for positive changes in the world.

Allegra Cohen's evolving career reached a major milestone with her production of "Putzel," an acclaimed independent feature film in which she  produced and costarred alongside Melanie Lynskey (Ever After, Two and a Half Men), Jack Carpenter (I Love You Beth Cooper), John Pankow (Mad About You) and Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm). A crowd and critic pleasing favorite at more than 50 international and domestic film festivals, "Putzel" took home Best Picture at the 2013 Phoenix Film Festival and was released worldwide by Filmbuff.

She is also an active philanthropist, volunteering for several non-profit organizations including Glamour Gals (where she's an advisory board member), The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Live Wright Society, and the 2BePositive movement.

Across her many projects, Allegra has developed a reputation as an adroit and nimble problem solver specializing in relationship building, product placement, headhunting, strategic brand integration, building and managing brand partnerships, public relations, social media publicity, location scouting, event coordinating and public speaking.

Committed to the principle of "on time and under budget," Allegra focuses on saving production costs by leveraging her relationships with brands, creating authentic partnerships, and securing vital clearances.

Architect of a new "brand integration production" category, Allegra worked product placement of multiple brands--including Microsoft, Avion Tequila, Tori Amos, Ray-Ban Sunglasses, and Lululemon--into the feature film, "I Am Michael," starring James Franco, Zachary Quinto, and Emma Roberts. The film made its domestic premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2015, and its international premiere at Berlin International Film Festival 2015.

As a producer of "I Am Michael," Allegra seamlessly merged clearance, product placement and brand integration into a new singular functionality. She negotiated music licensing deals, publicity, social media and sponsors in addition to coordinating the wrap party. Her responsibilities were extended to managing gifts for actors and producers, as well as all follow-up correspondence in post-production with the brands in order to leverage these relationships for future productions.

Allegra recently completed production on "Manhattan Nocturne," a new film based on the New York Times Notable Book, starring Adrien Brody, Yvonne Strahovsky, Campbell Scott, and Jennifer Beals.

Allegra is collaborating with Bandits Roost Productions on the award-winning children's book, "Weslandia," which is being developed into a feature film.

The 24-7 demands of the entertainment industry led Allegra to the realization the integration of "wellness" was essential to her overall vision, both for herself and for the clients she works with.

A health and beauty expert blessed with naturally curly hair, Allegra serves as a "Curly Connoisseur Consultant" for the Alex Anthony Salon in Manhattan, increasing salon brand and product awareness through social media and other walking endorsements.

Allegra's All In One approach to health, beauty and wellness--both inside and out--is evident in her booming Arbonne organization, a vegan, cruelty-free health and beauty business.

A highly functional "people person," Allegra Cohen loves to "untangle chaos and solve problems based on mutually beneficial relationships, so that everybody wins."
